The quality of my woodwork might also be criminal!
In my defence, however, I have seen some fairly crude loco stands. I had a bit of spare time this Sunday afternoon so thought I would put some offcuts to good use to make a stand for painting and working on the loco,
I have used MDF for the bases and an old bed slat and some off cuts for the vertical and the pivot and have used a coach bolt for the pivot point.
I now need to measure up the gap between the buffer stocks and put on some studs of some sort – probably some round headed screws.
Personally I would add some bracing between the uprights and the base board. This will stop any tendency for the supports to bend in or outwards with disastrous results. Clive.

I have already put some bracing. I might add in a further angle bracket.
