I have long been a closet steam enthusiast. I think it is a genetic disorder that I have inherited from my father. As I have got older the condition has got worse! Turning 50 has also made me feel that I should start to do some different hobbies.
I started feeding my condition by buying a 1” scale traction engine (a Burrell Showman) but, having joined a local Model Engineering Society, I have decided to embark on a longer project and have signed up to build a Polly Models Molly Ann 0-6-0 saddle tank. http://www.pollymodelengineering.co.uk/sections/polly-locomotive-kits/molly-ann.asp
I visited Polly Models about 3 weeks ago (in early March 2018) and met Andy and Lucy who showed me round the facility and let me have a long browse at Molly Ann and ask loads of questions. Meeting them really gave me confidence that I will not be alone on this journey.
I am expecting the first kit in about 3 weeks time. Time enough for doubts to develop about my ability I am sure, but also time to think about getting my tools in order and to think about the fun that this project will bring and the enjoyment at the end of driving something that I will have built.
